Paula’s Story

In 2007, I enthusiastically accepted a job as Exams Officer and Data Manager at a local school. However, I rapidly realised that, like so many schools, it was stretched for time and resources. No training ever materialised.

Thrown in to learn on the job, I felt the weight of ensuring every student could sit the exams they had worked hard to prepare for.

I quickly found my feet, but the experience lit the fire that led me to become an industry-leading exam professional.

Since those initial years, I have developed a considerable knowledge in the sector, effecting positive change to individuals, centres and the wider exams community through a depth of experience.

  • Training and Development: Delivering extensive training to new and experienced Examinations Officers and administrators nationwide, I have utilised my industry knowledge to build skills and confidence in centre staff.
  • Project Management: Consulting for a world-leading awarding body and provider of international education, I project managed an analysis of existing systems and provided recommendations for improving upon training programs to upskill and empower exams staff in centres across the globe.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Through my consultancy work, I have been able to drive change from the forefront of the sector, engaging with government departments, awarding bodies and Management Information System (MIS) suppliers.
  • Implementing Systems: Using my provision of training and support in making effective use of MIS, exams offices have seen increased efficiency and productivity, as well as improved staff confidence.
  • E-Learning and Resource Development: I have led the development of E-learning platforms, managed 2500 paid subscriptions to online resources and support, and authored articles on industry trends and challenges.
  • Industry Leadership Through Public Speaking: Speaking for organisations like the Department for Education and the Association of Colleges as a presenter and keynote speaker on exams and access arrangements allowed me to share my experience more widely, and to inspire other women seeking to make an impact.

Exam Officers and Data Solutions Limited now works with exam centres both in the UK and internationally to facilitate change, helping with exam services, from provision of training, recruitment, to managing change in centres facing difficulties.

We also provide interim exam management services to centres in the process of recruiting for an exams officer role.
