From No Induction to Global Impact: Why I Pioneered  Exams Officer Training

There is a system called SIMS  and that is where my journey into the world of exams began. There did not seem to be any Exams Officer Training.

Before stepping into education, I had built my career in the civil service and the NHS. In both sectors, structured inductions were standard practice. You were guided, supported and shown how to succeed before being expected to deliver results. So when I started my first exams role and realised there was no formal induction, no roadmap and no clear starting point, it came as a real surprise.

At that time, I was one of the first exams officers in my area, appointed as part of a government reform designed to reduce teacher workload by introducing specialist support roles. It was an exciting shift in education  but like many new initiatives, infrastructure had not yet caught up with expectation.

I remember thinking very clearly on that first day: “One day, I am going to create an induction programme for exams officers.”

Turning Frustration into Purpose

What began as a simple idea quickly became a mission.

I could see that exams officers across centres were facing the same challenges:

  • unclear processes
  • inconsistent guidance
  • limited training
  • and high-stakes responsibility from day one

This role is one of the most compliance-critical positions in education, yet historically it has not always received the structured preparation it deserves.

So I built what I wish I had: an online induction designed specifically for exams professionals practical, accessible and straight to the point. I pioneered the way for online exams officer training.

🗺️A Global Impact I Never Imagined 🌏

Fast forward to today and that training course has supported thousands of exams staff worldwide.

That is something I am incredibly proud of not just because of the numbers, but because of what it represents:
confidence, competence and clarity for people in roles that directly support students at some of the most important moments of their academic lives.

I am equally proud of the team we have built and the reputation we have developed for supporting centres globally with compliance, training and strategic guidance. Seeing the difference this work makes to individuals, organisations and students,  is what drives me every day.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

Looking back, there are a few things this journey has taught me:

  • Opportunity often starts with a problem.
  • If something does not exist but should, you can create it.
  • Expertise grows when you share it.
  • And sometimes the biggest achievements start with a single thought on a single day.
  • And always believe in yourself,
